1. Overview
Roamleaf (“Roamleaf,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) helps you organize travel memories, review photo-library categories, record routes, and create travel outputs. This policy describes the data handled by the Roamleaf iPhone and Apple Watch apps and this website.
2. Data we process
Photos and videos
When you grant Photos access, Roamleaf may read identifiers, dates, media types, locations, thumbnails, and selected image or video resources within the scope authorized by iOS. Limited Photos access is supported. Roamleaf does not treat an authorized subset as your complete library.
Travel memories
Roamleaf stores the travel titles, notes, chapters, media references, selections, and output settings you create or approve. Original photos and videos remain managed by Apple Photos unless you explicitly save a new copy or confirm deletion.
Location, motion, and routes
When you use outdoor features, Roamleaf may process location coordinates, timestamps, altitude, speed, heading, course, accuracy, pressure-derived relative altitude, recorded route points, and moments you mark. Photo locations and recorded routes are stored as different source types.
Website data
Our hosting provider may process basic connection data such as IP address, browser type, requested URL, timestamp, and security events to deliver and protect this website. The website does not use advertising trackers.
3. How we use data
- Identify candidate trips and group authorized media by time and place.
- Build reviewable memory drafts and the travel books, videos, and sharing layouts you request.
- Separate screenshots, documents, presentation slides, travel media, and videos.
- Create and verify compressed copies when you request compression.
- Display place history, route statistics, compass readings, and marked moments.
- Sync eligible library content through your private iCloud account when enabled.
- Maintain reliability, prevent abuse, and respond to support requests.
We do not sell personal data and do not use HealthKit data for advertising, marketing, or data brokerage.
4. Optional cloud AI
On-device organization is the default. If you select cloud mode, Roamleaf presents a confirmation before an AI request. Depending on your settings, a request may include travel dates, city-level context, story drafts, notes, and up to 12 compressed thumbnails. Precise coordinates, recorded route points, workout data, and HealthKit data are excluded from Roamleaf cloud AI requests.
Cloud requests pass through Roamleaf’s service gateway to the AI provider and model shown in the app. Those service providers process the request to return the output and may keep limited security or operational records under their terms. Do not include information in a cloud request that you do not want processed by those providers.
AI output may be incomplete or wrong. Roamleaf presents it for review and does not silently replace edits you have made.
5. iCloud sync
If you enable Private iCloud Library, Apple CloudKit may sync eligible travel text, photo references, chapter structure, selections, and ordinary app settings through your iCloud account. Original photo files remain in Apple Photos and its configured services.
Roamleaf excludes HealthKit data, workout data, and sensitive recorded-route content from its private travel-library iCloud sync. Availability, retention, encryption, and account controls for iCloud are also governed by your agreement with Apple.
6. Apple platform permissions
- Photos: to read authorized media, create albums or copies, and delete only items you select and confirm.
- Location: to show altitude, heading context, speed, place information, and record routes while a supported recording is active.
- Motion sensors: to show pressure changes and relative altitude on supported devices.
- Camera: to capture photos with a travel watermark preview.
- Health and Fitness: to create or read eligible workout and route records when you use the Apple Watch experience and grant access.
- iCloud: to sync eligible travel-library content when enabled.
You can change permissions in Apple Settings. Some features will be unavailable when their required permission is off.
7. Your choices and control
You can use on-device mode, disable iCloud sync, limit Photos access, remove a journey from the app, clear image caches, or revoke system permissions. When Roamleaf requests deletion of an original photo, the app asks first and iOS presents a second confirmation. Deleted media can normally be recovered from Photos’ Recently Deleted album for the period Apple provides.
To request help accessing or deleting support-related data held by us, contact us using the address below. We may need enough information to verify and fulfill the request. Data stored only on your device or in your private iCloud account must be managed through the app, device, or Apple account controls.
8. Retention
On-device content remains until you remove it, uninstall the app, erase the device, or an operating-system storage process removes temporary data. Eligible iCloud content remains subject to your iCloud account and app controls. Cloud AI request data and security logs are retained only as needed to deliver, secure, and troubleshoot the service, subject to applicable provider requirements.
9. Security and transfers
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards, including HTTPS for service requests, Keychain storage for gateway credentials, and data minimization. No storage or transmission method is completely secure.
Service providers may process data in countries other than your own. Where required, we use appropriate contractual and legal safeguards. Mandatory local privacy rights continue to apply.
10. Children
Roamleaf is not directed to children under 13, or a higher minimum age where local law requires it. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children through our services. A parent or guardian who believes a child provided data may contact us.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app changes. We will change the effective date and provide additional notice when required by law. Material changes apply prospectively unless applicable law permits otherwise.
